SpeedoMeter Pro ("we", "our", "us", or "the app"), developed by SoftTech Service, is committed to safeguarding user privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use our Android application.

Local-First & Zero Cloud Tracking Principle: SpeedoMeter Pro operates exclusively on your device. Your GPS routes, speedometer logs, vehicle service books, dash cam videos, travel allowance logs, and emergency contacts are stored locally on your device's internal storage and are never uploaded to any remote server without your explicit manual action.

1. Information We Process

1.1 GPS Location & Sensor Telemetry

The app accesses your phone's GPS sensor and accelerometer to:

  • Calculate real-time speed, maximum speed, and average speed
  • Display altitude, compass heading, and G-force metrics
  • Record route coordinates for trip history and exportable files (GPX, KML, CSV)
  • Detect high G-force spikes for accident impact triggers

Processing Mode: All GPS and telemetry computation occurs entirely on-device in real-time. We maintain no remote tracking servers.

1.2 Video & Audio Data (Dash Cam)

If you choose to use the Dash Cam feature, video and audio streams from your camera and microphone are saved locally into your device's private app cache or designated storage folder. The app performs automatic rolling file recycling to conserve storage. No video or audio is ever streamed, transmitted, or uploaded to our servers.

1.3 Emergency Contacts & SMS SOS

When configured by the user, emergency contact phone numbers are stored locally on your device. In the event of a triggered SOS or accident countdown completion, the app uses your carrier SMS service to transmit an emergency notification containing your current GPS coordinates to your designated contacts.

1.4 Vehicle Maintenance & Expense Data

Vehicle service records, odometer readings, fuel receipts, daily allowance rates, and reimbursement expense logs are stored exclusively in an on-device local SQLite/Room database.

2. Third-Party Services & Advertising

SpeedoMeter Pro does not sell, rent, or monetize your personal data or location coordinates.

  • No Tracking SDKs: We do not integrate user fingerprinting, behavioural tracking, or advertising data brokers.
  • Crash Diagnostics: Crash reporting telemetry is disabled by default. If enabled for troubleshooting, only anonymous, non-identifying stack traces are processed.
  • Google Play Services: Core location APIs are provided by Google Play Services under Google's standard privacy guidelines.

3. Data Retention & User Control

You maintain full control over all data stored in SpeedoMeter Pro:

  • You can clear individual trips, routes, vehicle logs, or dash cam video recordings at any time from within the app.
  • Uninstalling the application or clearing App Storage via Android Settings immediately purges all locally stored data, databases, and configuration settings.

4. Children's Privacy

SpeedoMeter Pro is a vehicular utility intended for licensed drivers, cyclists, and adults. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal data from children under 13 years of age.

Google Play Permissions Transparency

To deliver essential driving dashboard, trip logging, and emergency safety features, SpeedoMeter Pro requests specific Android permissions. Each permission is strictly bounded to its designated utility:

CAMERA Optional (Dash Cam) Used exclusively to record the road ahead when the Dash Cam feature is activated by the user.
RECORD_AUDIO Optional (Dash Cam) Used exclusively for optional audio recording within Dash Cam video clips. Can be toggled off at any time.
SEND_SMS Optional (Emergency SOS) Used exclusively to dispatch emergency distress alerts containing your live GPS coordinates to your pre-selected contacts upon accident detection.
ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION Optional (Auto Start/Stop) Detects vehicle driving motion to automatically start and pause trip logs without requiring manual button presses.
BLUETOOTH_CONNECT
BLUETOOTH_SCAN		 Optional (OBD-II) Pairs with standard ELM327 Bluetooth OBD-II automotive scanners to read engine RPM, coolant temperatures, and fuel telemetry.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS Required (Android 13+) Displays active speedometer status, speed limit warning alerts, and fatigue rest reminders.

Background Location Policy Compliance

Prominent Disclosure on Background Location:

SpeedoMeter Pro collects location data to enable live speed tracking, distance calculation, and route recording even when the app is closed or not in use, provided an active trip recording session is underway. Background location tracking is visibly announced via a persistent status bar notification and stops immediately when you end your trip.

Terms and Conditions

By downloading, installing, or using SpeedoMeter Pro, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please discontinue using the application.

1. License & Permitted Use

SoftTech Service grants you a revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited license to download, install, and use SpeedoMeter Pro strictly for personal, non-commercial vehicular utility or authorized commercial field allowance tracking in accordance with these Terms.

2. Driving Safety & User Responsibility

  • You acknowledge that safe operation of your vehicle is entirely your sole legal responsibility.
  • You agree never to interact with, calibrate, or adjust app settings while actively operating a motor vehicle, bicycle, or other moving craft.
  • You agree to mount your phone in a legally compliant, secure vehicle dock or holder that does not obstruct your driving field of view or airbag deployment zones.
  • SoftTech Service expressly disclaims liability for any traffic citations, speeding fines, collisions, property damage, personal injuries, or fatalities arising from the use or misuse of the application.

3. Intellectual Property

All source code, UI designs, graphics, branding, algorithms, and documentation associated with SpeedoMeter Pro are the proprietary intellectual property of SoftTech Service and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws.

4. "As Is" and Warranty Disclaimer

SPEEDOMETER PRO IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. SOFTTECH SERVICE DOES NOT WARRANT THAT SATELLITE GPS READINGS WILL BE 100% UNINTERRUPTED, ACCURATE, OR ERROR-FREE UNDER ALL ENVIRONMENTAL OR ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS.
