Important Safety Disclosures, GPS Limitations & Terms of Use

Applicable App: SpeedoMeter Pro (com.softtechservice.speedometerpro)  |  Developer: SoftTech Service

🚨 CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING:

DO NOT configure, manipulate, or adjust this application while actively operating a motor vehicle, motorcycle, scooter, or bicycle. Set all parameters, destinations, HUD modes, and trip recording before beginning your journey. Mount your device securely in a holder compliant with local traffic laws.

1. GPS Speed Measurement & Inherent Variations

SpeedoMeter Pro computes velocity and distance utilizing satellite Global Positioning System (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou) signals received by your smartphone's internal hardware.

  • Satellite Reception Factors: GPS speed readings depend entirely on clear line-of-sight to orbiting satellites. Signal accuracy can be degraded or interrupted by tall urban buildings, tunnels, underground parking, dense tree foliage, mountain passes, adverse weather, or metallic window tints.
  • OEM Speedometer Differences: Most automotive manufacturers intentionally calibrate factory vehicle speedometers to read 2% to 10% higher than true ground speed to comply with international vehicle regulations (e.g., ECE-R39, ADR). A difference between your car's physical speedometer dial and GPS speed is standard engineering behavior and not a fault of the app.
  • Ground Speed vs Wheel Speed: GPS measures true over-the-ground velocity via Doppler shift. Physical vehicle instruments measure tire rotations, which are influenced by tire pressure, tread wear, and wheel diameter changes.

2. Non-Replacement of Certified Vehicle Instruments

SpeedoMeter Pro is a secondary auxiliary convenience tool and informational driving dashboard. It is NOT a certified replacement for factory-installed vehicle instruments, primary odometers, tachometers, or safety warning systems.

Users must always refer to their certified dashboard cluster for legally binding vehicle speed compliance.

3. Head-Up Display (HUD) Windshield Notice

When utilizing the Head-Up Display (HUD) reflection mode:

  • HUD projection is designed for nighttime or low-light conditions. Daytime visibility is limited without specialized polarized reflective films.
  • Position your smartphone securely on the dashboard using a non-slip pad so it does not slide during sudden braking or cornering.
  • Ensure the device reflection does not obstruct your line of sight to pedestrians, traffic signals, or oncoming vehicles.

4. Emergency SOS & Accident Detection Limitations

SpeedoMeter Pro features G-force impact detection and automated emergency SOS messaging:

  • No Guarantee of Trigger: G-force thresholds vary based on phone placement, vehicle chassis stiffness, and shock absorption. The app does not guarantee accident detection in all collision scenarios.
  • Network & Carrier Dependency: SMS dispatches require active cellular network reception, available carrier balance, and functional device hardware post-incident.
  • Not a Replacement for Emergency Services: SpeedoMeter Pro is not an official public safety answering point (PSAP) service (such as 911, 112, 999, or 100). In an emergency, always contact authorized medical or police emergency services directly when feasible.

5. FMCG & Field Allowance Logger Advisory

The travel allowance calculator and trip export logs (GPX, KML, CSV) are provided as organizational tools for field executives, sales representatives, and commuters.

  • SoftTech Service is not responsible for corporate reimbursement disputes, payroll audits, or tax filing discrepancies.
  • Users are responsible for verifying logged distances against corporate travel policies and local tax authority guidelines.

6. OBD-II Diagnostics & ELM327 Telemetry

Connecting an ELM327 Bluetooth adapter to your vehicle's On-Board Diagnostics (OBD-II) port is performed at your own risk:

  • SpeedoMeter Pro operates as a passive diagnostic reader. It does not re-flash ECU firmware or modify vehicle safety configurations.
  • Ensure your OBD-II adapter is genuine and certified. Faulty third-party OBD-II hardware can cause battery drain or bus interference on poorly shielded vehicle networks.

7. Dash Cam & Video Recording Legalities

When operating the Dash Cam video recording feature, you must comply with local privacy and recording legislation in your jurisdiction:

  • Certain states and countries restrict continuous video recording in public or private spaces, or require passenger notification for interior audio recording.
  • Check local laws regarding windshield-mounted devices to ensure compliant camera placement.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SoftTech Service, its developers, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages, including but not limited to traffic fines, speeding citations, vehicle damage, personal injuries, loss of profits, or data loss resulting from the use or inability to use SpeedoMeter Pro.
